Going Out on a Rainy Saturday

My sister and I planned to go to the Matta Fair yesterday and stopped by at Mid Valley when returing from PWTC. We would like to check out the competitive rates to Taiwan (we planned to go there next year) and some other destinations. Unfortunately, she received support calls from her dear colleagues and by the time we were about to set off, the sky was dark and the clouds were heavy. I prompted if she would still want to go ahead with the plan and she was adamant to proceed as planned.

It wasn't too bad as it was merely drizzling. The wind was strong, nevertheless. Hence, taking the walk to the KTM Commuter station was pleasant. Alas, the rain got heavier and we were forced to stop at Subang Parade. We had our lunch there and bumped into another friend. What a coincidence. We tend to bump into each other whenever we were at that place, especially when she was there for studies purpose. LOL.

Little did I know that Subang Parade had entered its 20th year in Subang Jaya. When I moved in to Subang Jaya about 18 years ago (gee, that makes me sound old. LOL), Subang Parade was the best shopping mall around. There was a small theme park adjacent to it. However, it was closed down shortly after. Luckily I had been there a few times. Otherwise, that would be a waste. The place was quite fun and happening actually. Uncertain why it had ceased operation.

Here are some pictures which I randomly snapped with my camera phone. I am not a very good photographer =p

Aiks, not a very good shot. The words were hidden (both 2nd and 3rd image). Pardon me as I was trying to take a few snaps before the little ones around start running about. LOL. Lame excuse, I know =p

We then headed to MidValley. The air-con there was unusually freezing. In normal circumstances, the air would be warm due to the crowd. Anyway, we seized every seconds we have by checking out what were new on the shelves - from food to shoes. Alas, the shopping spree was not that fruitful. I managed to get myself a top but my sister got herself nothing. Sales was over. Only some shops were still offering discounts.

While we were looking for a place to rest our tired feet, we came across this quaint cafe known as Sbread. They also have a website for you to browse through if you are interested. We were served by a beautiful lady, who I suspect was the lady boss. Sbread's specialty was Bamboo Charcoal Bread. My sister and I ordered a slice of Bamboo Charcoal Bread with Taro-flavoured kaya and another slice of white bread with Otak-Otak topping.

I actually forgotten to snap some photos on the Bamboo Charcoal Bread until I saw a couple who sat behind my sister, busy camwhoring.LOL. Immediately, I took out my camera phone (I don't have the habit of bringing my digital camera around unless there's an occassion) and started snapping a few photos. The result wasn't that desireable. We were in the midst of devouring the Otak-Otak topping bread and I told my sister to stop for a while so that I could take a photograph of it.

At about 7PM, we went for dinner at a restaurant in SS15, Subang Jaya - Restaurant J.O

This is how the interior of the restaurant looked like. The business was quite good. There were several tables already been reserved and people started to stroll in as time passed by. The place was installed with air-conditioners and ceiling fans but I don't think they were needed as the weather was rather chilly.

Being a fan of beancurd (a.k.a tofu), I like the beancurd with fish paste dish but the fish paste didn't taste that good. It tasted rather superficial. This dish was priced at MYR12.

I think the star of the night was the sliced fish ginger and spring onions. Though the sliced fishes were fried, they were still tender and most importantly, the fish was fresh. The dish cost MYR25.

The sweet and sour sauce which the pork belly was cooked with tasted good - the sweetness, sourness and spicyness were just perfectly blended together. It was priced at MYR15.

missmall - Didn't get to check out as I didn't go to the Matta Fair as well :| When I departed from my house, it was not that early already, not to mention to take into consideration the time needed to travel via public transportation. Went to MidValley instead (as I wanted to get something but ended up not very fruitful LOL)

beverly's secret - Most M'sian who are away from home share the same sentiment ;-)
