I am Back!

Yes, I am back!! Felt like I had been living the life of a vampire for weeks. It's tiring and I was disconnected from the outside world. I missed reading my favourite blogs and catching up with my favourite T.V. dramas. These are petty things but they make my day.

You could say I am a workaholic to a certain extent. I could not stay away from my laptop even though it's extremely late (or should I say early for the following day) and my vision was blurring - sign from my biological clock that I need sleep. I look terrible with bloodshot eyes and dark circles against my pale skin (not to mention breakouts!!). A striking resemblance of a vampire, indeed. LOL. A family member of Edward Cullen's ;) I wish! Hehe. Pardon me, my brain is not really in the right order.

I am now going through my saved drafts and try to put up posts which I had intended too but yet to do so. See ya =D

Mr. Cheeky - The Photo

As promised, here is the photo of Mr. Cheeky. Took it after work when everyone was not around.LOL
Don't I look mischievous?? =p
Wee,....nice massage
(I was squeezing and squashing the mischievous little fella.LOL)
My name is Mr. Cheeky. How do you do?

Miss No Good

Recently, I am hooked up to yet another Taiwanese drama - Miss No Good (不良笑花). Perhaps that's the only entertainment available after I get back from work. All the Hong Kong dramas were aired before I got home or too late at night :

The storyline is fairly simple. Having said that, I am surprised how I am very much entertained by this drama. It gave me an excellent jaw exercise and it's a great way to relax after a whole tiresome day at work.

Some maybe annoyed by Rainie's comical voice. If you had seen the NG scenes, you will find that Rainie is very professional in bringing out the character of Xiao Hua. She had to act cute and comical so much so that at some point of time, it reminded me of a comical character which you could usually find in comics or mangas. I also liked how Xiao Hua and her granny speak with a funny accent. It comes so naturally.

Credit should also be given to Wilber Pan for portraying the egoistic and ill-mouthed professional stylist Tang Men. Considering this is his first Taiwanese Idol drama project ( I suppose), he did an excellent job. It's convincing and believable. The chemistry between Wilber Pan and Rainie Yang added more flavour to the simple love-hate storyline.

I don't think anyone would not notice Dean, who protrayed as Jia Si Le, given his good look. Some said he could not speak accurate Mandarin because he's of mixed parentage (Japanese and .....not sure what other blood(s) running in him). His performance in this drama is less outstanding against Wilber Pan's. Nevertheless, it did keep the character alive.

No, I don't have a clue what the ending is and I am eager to find out. If you can't wait for 8TV to air the last episode, Youtube is the solution ;) Anyway, to those who are curious, you may check out this short video of Miss No Good and you decide to follow this drama or otherwise. Enjoy!

Amara @ Singapore

While going through my saved drafts, I realised I did make way for a post on my one day trip to Singapore. So here it is, I am going to talk about it very briefly. Not much to say, really. I was there only for a night. Wished I could stay so that I would spend my weekend with my sister (because she would be there for business trip). It's been a while since we really had a vacation together - last August, I believe.

Arrangement was made for my colleague and I to stay at Amara Singapore as it's near our office. Great place. The room was just perfect. There were two single beds. So, I could not figure out what to do with the other. In the end, hopped onto it with my laptop to read some documents and then retired to the other when I needed to sleep.

This is the one on which I read my documents. The bathroom is rather spacious by Singapore's standard. I kind of like the shower room although it's a little small.

After a warm shower, I called for room service. Thinking that I was starving, I could do with a starter, I ordered Trio mushroom cappucino soup with stuffed mushroom. I don't usually order soup or ny kind of starter as main course alone is sufficient. I also wanted something to keep me warm. So, I decided to break my usual habit. Got myself a soup and Club Sandwich. I was actually torn in between Japanese food and Western, which I later settled on Western.

My dinner!
It looks more like a Cappucino than soup. To my surprise, the soup tasted good. My tongue could not detect the aroma of cappucino. Perhaps, the taste of mushrooms outdid the cappucino or the presence of cappucino is too little to catch any attention. Unfortunately, there's only one stuffed mushroom. I enjoyed it. Simply delicious. Yum. Here comes the main course - Club Sandwich with chicken and bacon, topped with a fried egg. Didn't expect the latter. The chicken was well-cooked and the chef used chicken thigh to ensure the texture is fine and tender.

Closer look of the sandwich. Not very healthy, though. It's quite oily.
Nay, I wrote a post card and intended to post to you. Alas, it's still in my bag! My apologies. Hope you don't mind if I it reaches you few months later.
Well, my little story about my Singapore trip ends here. Didn't I tell you there's nothing really to talk about? I didn't bore you, did I? =p

Restaurant Mama

This is indeed a very outdated post. It's way back in 7th February when we went for Yee Sang at Mama's, Petaling Jaya. If I remembered correctly, it was the last day of Chinese New Year and the last day we can find Yee Sang in restaurants!

My mom was craving for the Nyonya style Yee Sang. So, we went there for dinner and Yee Sang. I still could not believe we finished everything we ordered, which was a total of 7 dishes, including Yee Sang!

Baju Kebaya
The special thing about this restaurant is its Nyonya theme. As soon as you enter, you would notice there were lots of ornaments and decorations revolved around Nyonya culture. From baju kurung to Kebaya to paper umbrellas and lanterns.
Nyonya Yee Sang
This Yee Sang is special! I love it at first try. It's slightly different from the usual ones I had. There were fish crackers, pepper mint leave, snow pear, and lemon grass - ingredients that we don't usually see in other Yee Sangs. I simply like the sour taste and fragrance exude from the ingredients. A must-try when you visit Mama's during Chinese New Year.
Nyonya Assam Fish
I am not exactly a huge fan of fishes, especially if they have really fishy taste. Honestly, the Assam fish wasn't something I would recommend. I think the spiciness was too overwhelming that my taste bud could identify other taste.
Fried Chicken with herbs
I was kind of looking forward to the chicken as the description in the menu made it sound so unique and I was wondering what herbs would be used. Alas, it was really nothing special. The herbs were actually in the dipping sauce =.=" but it wasn't enticing at all. I am not sure what it's lacking. Perhaps the herbs or combination of herbs didn't turn out a good chemistry. Besides, the chicken was over-cooked.
Asam Prawns
The prawns did win some points back. I like the sour test and the fragrance of Asam (sour plum) blended well with the tenderness of the prawns. Yummy.
Mee Siam
My mom would probably be up in cloud nine if she knows this - I think my mom's Mee Siam tasted better. Anyway, it fared averagely.
Vegetables
I could not remember the exact name of this dish. It's basically made up of turnip, carrots, mushroom, fried prawns and some diced meat. According to the waiter, it's supposed to be wrapped by the raw greens and chilly paste should be added to bring in flavour and excite your taste bud a little more.
Overall, the food was mediocre but the prices didn't come cheap. Sorry, I could not remember the exact amount but it should be about MYR200 - MYR300. Well, it's Chinese New Year and Chinese tends to spend more on this occasion.

Mr. Cheeky

What a surprise.....
As soon as I turned on my laptop and logged in to MOC yesterday morning, my former manager requested me to meet her at her place. Curious, I went up to her and she extended her hands in front of me with a blueish soft toy. "Happy Valentine's Day!", she exclaimed.

I was in lost of words. Luckily, I recovered from the surprise quickly and managed to say "Thank you!" How sweet of her. The rest of the team also received a soft toy each and it's called Mr. Cheeky! LOL. Cute name. What impressed me further was each Mr. Cheeky was enclosed with a message. That's really swwwweeeettttt.....

Mr. Cheeky is now comfortably resting on my desk, studying me while at work through his really cheeky look. I didn't bring him back. Thought it would be better to have him at office - a source of entertainment as I could hold and squeeze it whenever I am stressed out (how mean of me). Ah, I will take a photo of him and you shall see how cheeky he is. (Haha, actually not really that cheeky. Just a little)

At the same time, my former supervisor also gave me a passion fruit, which I just ate it today. Receiving two gifts in a day is something I didn't expect. Definitely a great day to start off Friday!

After work, my colleagues (also my lovely girl friends) and I went to KFC. One of the girls was craving for KFC's fried chicken. Although I am not very fond of KFC, I tagged along. It's some what a pre-Valentine's Day celebration. It's my first ever All-Girls-Valentine celebration. Not bad. I returned home at about 11.20pm last night. Unfortunately, we did not break our previous record of chatting for about 5 hours because we went off from work late! Talking about chatterbox, we are simply an excellent example ;p

Up in the clouds

I wish I had stayed for few more days in Singapore so I could meet up with friends and walk around the lion city. Well, not that there are plenty to do but I just wanted to go places and chill out. On the contrary, I stayed in my hotel room last night and didn't ring up my friend. What baffled myself was I actually turned on my laptop and started reading documents (??!!) Now, that's sinful especially the room was just perfect to relax and to get away from work.

I was seated by the window during my flight to Singapore and it's the first time that I actually looked out and see what nature has to offer up in the clouds. The red-orange fire ball was almost fully hidden behind the thick clouds, leaving behind weak rays of light to illuminate the greyish blue sky. The mixture of hue was simply amazing - grey, blue, orange, and red. Unfortunately, my camera was in my bag, which was quietly stowed in the luggage cabin. I couldn't be bothered to fetch it.

It's strange to see that the airplane was in between 2 thick layers of clouds - one layer above the plane and another, at the bottom. The illusion of the clouds at the lower layer (of the airplane) deceived the eyes and mind that we were flying above a huge stretch of land covered with "fluffy" snow.

Yeah, I got "emo" all of sudden. LOL

I am looking forward to weekend! Hurray. I just loooovvveee weekends. Don't you?
