Hong Guo "Chao Pai Mian" @ Bugis Junction
While I was taking a stroll at Bugis Junction last Sunday afternoon, I decided to have brunch before continuing my shopping spree.
I found a quaint restaurant which sold noodle and rice and it was screaming "Come in" to me. Irresistable, I set my foot into Hong Guo. Its interior design was creative and interesting. I was studying it after being seated.
Indecisive I am, I finally settled for Hong Guo's specialty - Chao Pai Mian. It came in a huge bowl with thick rice noodle (Beehoon), fresh fish slices, ham, fried pork fillet, dried prawns, preserved vegetables, mushrooms and spring onions, all of which were mixed with the noodle and soup in front of me (the waitress offered to mix them for you or your could DIY). The soup looked interesting and if it was not for the generous sprinkle of pepper, the soup was just right. Alas, the taste of the pepper was overwhelming.

Mermaid Or Whale?
Recently, in a large French city, a poster featuring a young, thin and tanned woman appeared in the window of a gym.
It said: "THIS SUMMER DO YOU WANT TO BE A MERMAID OR A WHALE?"
A middle aged woman, whose physical characteristics did not match those of the woman on the poster, responded publicly to the question posed by the gym.
To Whom It May Concern:Whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, sea lions, curious humans).
They have an active sex life, they get pregnant and have adorable baby whales. They have a wonderful time with dolphins, stuffing themselves with shrimp. They play and swim in the seas, seeing wonderful places like Patagonia, the Barren Sea and the coral reefs of Polynesia. Whales are wonderful singers and have even recorded CDs.
They are incredible creatures and virtually have no predators other than humans. They are loved, protected and admired by almost everyone in the world.
Mermaids don't exist. If they did exist, they would be lining up outside the offices of Argentinean psychoanalysts due to identity crisis. Fish or human? They don't have a sex life because they kill men who get close to them, not to mention how could they have sex? Therefore they don't have kids either. Not to mention who wants to get close to a girl who smells like a fish store? The choice is perfectly clear to me; I want to be a whale.
P.S. We are in an age when media puts into our heads the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my kids, a good dinner with a man who makes me shiver and a coffee with my friends. With time we gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room it distributes out to the rest of our bodies. So we aren't heavy, we are enormously cultured, educated and happy. Beginning today, when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think, "Good gosh, look how smart I am!"

Pretty Woman With Soba Bento
Anyway, I went out as planned. My first stop was at Bugis Junction and then took a train to VivoCity. The sales was crazy! G2000 sold formal wears at SGD23 ;) I don't think G2000 Malaysia would ever offer that price on sales. Even after conversion, it's reasonable. I bought myself 2 pairs of working pants. That was the first time I bought something in such a short period of time. I think I was really desperate for pants! LOL.
While I was having dinner at a Japanese restaurant tonight, I heard the rather catchy song from the movie "Pretty Woman" - Oh Pretty Woman. It reminded me of those days in Form 3 (High School, Year 3). We were assigned by our Physical Education (P.E.) teacher to choreographed dance moves based on a song selected by us. There should be 10 people in a group. Although I wasn't a dancing queen, I did enjoy the time my friends and I spent practising the choreographed steps to perfection. The song did bring back lots of fond memories in the past.
Actually, the song I liked from the movie is Fallen and it was introduced by my friend. Initially, we thought of having this song as the theme song. However, we changed our mind as we needed something more catchy to make the steps more interesting.
It's rather soothing and excellent for ballroom dance, I would say.

Living room
Rainy Copenhagen morning
The weather somehow dismiss my shopping mood. Initially, I thought of walking to the Magasin instead of taking the bus since it'll be a nice walk with the refreshing breeze. Unfortunately, it rained. I suppose I would only walk out later. Would like to get some foodstuffs too.

Christianhavn
Christianhavn is said to be a town without laws and is a place where you can get drugs cheap. True enough, as were about to enter the "land without law", we saw a sign on our left saying "You are now entering the EU". The "land without law" was on our right and no photography was allowed in that "land". Interesting.
The "land without law" had a lot of visitors last night. There were performances, BBQ, games booth and stalls selling ladies accessories, clothings and art pieces. Although Denmark is a peaceful country in general, I didn't feel quite safe in that area. Luckily, we went there in a large group. I was glad that I didn't go there by myself, which I had such a thought a while ago.
Once we had walked around the small "land without law", we headed towards the restaurant which were supposed to have dinner. It's strange that how one could feel the different atmosphere of the "land without law" and the rest of the town although they do share the same sky.
The food during dinner was all right. It wasn't that great, though. There wasn't many options in the menu - only one dish per type of meat : fish, lamb, duck, beef, deer. Can you believe there's no chicken or pork?! *Shrug*
After dinner, it was about 10.30pm. I took the Metro train to Norreport and from there, I didn't know which bus to take to Esplanaden. So, I asked around - walking from one bus station to another. Alas, no one knew! Exasperated, I went back into the Metro station and took an S-train to Osterport station and walked to Esplanaden. The darkness was indeed intimidating as I walked along the pathway between the park and the bicycle lane. I couldn't help but quicken my footsteps although I know it's rather safe to walk in the dark here. By the time I reached hotel, it was slightly later than 11pm I suppose.
I fell into the bed immediately after shower and almost forgotten to brush my teeth! How sleepy I was! Hahaha.
It's delighting to know Friday is coming and soon, weekend is approaching! =)

BBQ at windy rooftop
After filling our tummies with sausages, chicken, pork, salad and egg custard, we played cards (Big Deuce, Big Two, Thirteen, what ever you called it - the Chinese called it "Cho Dai Di"). I am a total fool when comes to playing games. My friends had taught me before but it just doesn't get recorded in my mind. I was so slow in getting the right (actually not right at all!) cards out =_=""
We also played the new mini version of Monopoly. Again, I was slow in counting how much $$$ I had earned. I was totally amazed how fast my friends could do the math. Gee,.I need a brain repair. Send me to Kronos Heaven for repair!LOL
Next, Pat's two Hongkie friends taught us another card game. It is very much like "Snap" but the rule is slightly different. There're 3 stages : Beginner, Intermediate and Advance! Haha. Basically as we disclosed the cards (by turn) while piling them before us, we need to call out numbers in sequence (1, 2, 3, 4, continues). If the card happens to show the number the person calls out, everyone must place his/her hand on top of the pile of cards before us. The last person who places the hand on top of the cards shall have to take all the cards in that pile. The games continue. The person who has the most cards in the end is the loser.
Intermediate level : the basic same rules apply. However, instead of responding to the number being called, we only need to respond if the card reflects 1 number before or after the number being called out. For example, I called out 4, we need to "snap" the card if the card shows 3 or 5. As for the Advance level, we snap if the card reflects 2 number before or after the number being called out. Suppose you get the picture already. Again, I was slow in response. Gee, I am really bad with games!
Anyway, I enjoyed myself very much =)

Jerry Yan Appeared In A Thai Song MV - Love So Much
While I was browsing through and listening to his new album, I stumbled upon a video called "Jerry Yan - Love So Much". I had never heard of the song title. Curious, I clicked on it. To my surprise, it was in Thai language but it's Jerry Yan in the MV. I read the description of the video and found that the creator edited Jerry Yan's recorded video and attached it to a Thai song.
It matched perfectly. Well done. The song is good although I don't understand Thai. Here is the video.
Cheers To Every Little Good Thing
My sister shared with me a funny video this morning. It did give me a good laugh. Exaggerating but it's rather meaningful if you think deeper into the message behind the hilarious scenes. If you can be delighted or pleased by little things, you are a happier person =) However, at times, you need to be a little demanding to get things moving. Well, there should always be a balance in everything.
Have a great Sunday!
Cheers to sunny Sunday!

P.S. I Love You
I finally managed to enjoy the entire movie today. I missed it once few weeks back in Bangkok. It wasn't that easy to look for the free source. Last night, I was watching from a "free site" and while I was drawing myself into the movie, the movie stopped playing and I had this message splashed across the screen: "You have watched 72 minutes of the video. You would need to wait for 54 minutes to continue watching or sign up here". Searching in youtube is a completely futile attempt. So, don't bother. If you have the patience to wait for the full movie to load, please see it here.
It simply lives up to its expectations and the reputation that it had earned. A definite must watch. Please prepare some tissues so that you don't have to use your blouse to wipe your tears or to blow your nose ;)
Dealing with the departure of someone dear to you isn't easy at all. Most people did not or have not planned their own death. Well, not planning how to die but planning for your dear ones should death come knocking at your door. It takes a lot of energy and effort to get over the grief and move on with life but if there's one thing you could do to help your dear ones, it does make a difference.
P.S. I Love You reminded me to do just that.
P.S. Thank you!
Amadeus
While I was hunting for a place to have a decent meal, I passed by a quaint shop named Amadeus. There's a menu pasted outside the shop. Looked promising. So I decided to fill my growling tummy at Amadeus! When I swung opened the door, I only saw pastries, confectioneries and bakeries on the shelves. I continue to walk and had myself seated at the nearest table, nonetheless. The brownies looked extremely rich in chocolate and tempting.
A couple of minutes later, a Hawaiian looking girl approached me and asked if I were there to eat. I nodded and replied with a "yes". She then handed me a menu. There weren't many alternatives and yet, I took quite some time to make the call.

Who's that?
After finding out I was actually in Copenhagen, she apologised profusely. I told her it was all right. It's not too early anyway. I was awake usually at that time but would laze around till about 6.30AM or 6.45AM before getting up.
During lunch, the cafeteria served rice and a stew that I thought consist of kidney beans with curry, turned out to be wolf berries. It's rather sweet and the combination of sweetness, sourness and spiciness wasn't that appealing, really. It's the oddest thing I ever tasted. Fortunately, the yellow curry chicken came to the rescue. It wasn't spicy at all to Malaysian standard but it fared far better than the wolf berries stew. I am shuddering at the thought of the stew :S
Dinner was great. Thanks to Pat for bringing to the Vietnamese restaurant. To my surprise, the restaurant is operated by a Chinese family who speaks Cantonese. I suddenly felt at home. They speak the same language as I do! It's during the dinner that I found out I should not attempt wrapping spring rolls. LOL. I failed terribly. Anyway, the food is now safely in my tummy.
*Yawn* My eyes are getting heavy. Time for bed. Night.

What's That Noise?
Then, there's this buzzing noise which irritated my ear drums. It's not loud but enough to cause some ringings in my head. I had to resort to listen to David Tao's songs. Haha.
As I shifted myself on the chair, it let out another creek. Does everything has to creek inside here? By the time I leave for Singapore, I would have known how to compose a song with creeks! LOL
It's rainy today. The chill from the damp wind ran through my body as I was marching down the street to the restaurant next to THE hotel. It's a quaint restaurant but rather gloomy. Once again, I had myself seated at a 2-seat corner and ordered what I ordered the last time - Steak of Salmon, but I told them not to give me potatoes as I recalled the portion was rather huge. To my disappointment, today's portion wasn't that generous. The salmon looked so tiny against the rectangular plate. Instead of zuchinis, carrots and mmm...I cannot remember what other types of vegetables there were but definitely a variety, I was presented with finely diced carrot and potato cubes to go with the salmon. It's indeed a far cry from my last scrumptious meal.
Anyway, I am happy I had a proper dinner =)

Mexicano Chicken Wings....
After knowing the exact opening hours, I went there again today to satiate my craving. I made sure that I stopped by no earlier than 1700 hours. It's indeed opened today! Delighted, I chose a place which I felt comfortable and placed my order.
Although the chicken wings still tasted great (except there were some carbon on the outer layer of the wings), the nachos didn't fare that well. They were far better last week. I wasn't sure if it's because the fact that I had company last week but not today, which then made the food less tasty or the standard dropped a little today. Anyway, I was satisfied that I finally got to taste the mexican chicken wings! I should have sweet dreams tonight =)
